Don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you decide to enjoy your life. Perfect does not exist.
I’m sure many of you have heard the quote “enjoy the journey” before and probably like me, you’ve scoffed at the thought. Am I right?!
I never really knew why this quote existed. I always thought to myself, what psychopath came up with this? And, their life must have been great! They obviously never experienced hardships or troubles.
I had this attitude every time I saw this quote, until the other day when I had my very first life coach call with the amazing Miss Sara Schulting-Kranz.
How I learned the “why”
On our call, we began talking about where I thought my life was at in relation to being perfect on a scale from 1-10. I put down a 3, and Sara asked me why I put a 3? We talked through why I put a 3 and how to get my rating up, but then she made me realize that no matter where you are on this rating scale – it doesn’t mean you are immune to issues. It’s about your perception and how you deal with those issues that count.
Whaaa!?! It hit me. I got it.
OMG. Sara! Do you mean to tell me that I need to enjoy my life as it is, no matter if I’m on a hill or in a valley on my life journey?
Yes. It’s true friends.
How about that? This is when I finally realized that although I’m in the middle of going through one of the toughest times in my life right now, I need to stop, open my eyes, look around, and find the beauty at the moment. In the everyday.
After my call, I got out a piece of paper, wrote on it, “enjoy the journey,” and taped it to my bathroom mirror as a reminder to myself that above everything else that happens in a day – enjoy it. Because life doesn’t last forever and that IS the beauty of it.
I see this quote now every morning and I’ve decided it’s my quote for 2020.
For those of you who aren’t in the know, I’m coaching with Sara for the next 6-months and I couldn’t be more excited! I have never done anything like this for myself in a very, very long time so – it’s the perfect time to give myself an upgrade, and to “enjoy the journey.”
How are you going to give yourself an upgrade? What will you do for YOU? How will you decide to enjoy your journey? Comment below and tell me about it! I want to know.
